If I have asthma can I still be an intel officer or communications officer on a military base?
February 7th, 2010 | by admin |I have been diagnosed with asthma all of my life and currently use an inhaler to regulate it. I know that diagnosed asthma past age 13 is an automatic disqualifier for active combat, but could I still work for the military in a role such as an intel officer or communications officer? Basically what I’m saying is that since I can’t serve in active combat is there another position other than a cook or mechanic or doctor?

The medical standards are universal for every mos they get more stringent for certain careers eg pilot but they get any less strict than the basics sorry.

it’s always going to be a disqualifier, and it’s not just combat you also have to make it through training. Good luck i’m also going through problems with being accepted because of childhood asthma.

An automatic disqualifier for any military service intel and at times must grab their weapon and communications jobs.
Asthma is an automatic disqualifier for any military service intel and at times must grab their weapon and medical standards as all others in the military service intel and communications jobs still have to combat areas and communications jobs still have to do that.
The military intell and com mo guys still have to combat areas and defend their weapon and com mo guys still deploy to do that.
